2 AGC project wins ADFIAP Awards 2019
At the 42nd Annual Membership meeting and 2019 Development Awards ceremony of the Association of Development Financing Institutions in Asia and the Pacific (ADFIAP) held in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman on February 20, 2019, the ASKI Group of Companies, Inc. won two projects under the Human Capital Development Category.

The winning projects were 1) Men-at-Work Program: Empowering Urban Men through Technical Skills Training and Development and 2) Strengthening the Capabilities of Overseas Workers and their Families through Financial Literacy and Basic Entrepreneurship Trainings.

The Men-at-Work is a program spearheaded by the ASKI Foundation, Inc. in partnership with ASKI Skills and Knowledge Institute, Inc. and Wholistic Transformation and Resource Center (WTRC) to help the group of men in Cabanatuan City who are unemployed and only earning on a seasonal basis to have an opportunity for employment and provide job opportunities through the provision of technical-vocational courses with accreditation from Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).

To date, there were more than 120 beneficiaries of the program. They finished courses like Backhoe Loader Operation, Electrical Installation and Maintenance, Automative Mechanic, Driving/Heavy Equipment Operation on Highway Dumptruck and Shielded Metal Arc Welding.

Meanwhile, the program for overseas workers (OWs) and their families was designed for families to appreciate the hard work of the OWs and to value every cent of the remittance sent home. The Financial Education (FinEd) course teaches participants financial competence, financial responsibility or taking control of their financial decisions and taking risks to pursue financial goals. They were also trained on Basic Entrepreneurship and Personality Development.

The ultimate goal is to assist Filipinos in Singapore by giving them training courses that could help in their work, personal and strengthening of family values. The organization also assist them in establishing their own business enterprises in the Philippines to provide additional source of income for their families.

Since the program inception in 2010, close to 7,000 overseas workers and their families have already been trained by ASKI Global Limited and ASKI Skills and Knowledge Institute, Inc.

Chairperson Teodora R. Ramos, Human Resource, Admin and CorPlan Director Divina Gracia C. Santos and ASKI Foundation, Inc. Secretary Cresenciana F. Victoria.
