Sustainability Certification Granted to ASKI
Karlsruhe, Germany-ASKI has become the first Microfinance Institution globally to achieve the status of Sustainability-Certified Financial Institution. Mr. Emil T. Fernandez, Deputy Consul General of the Philippines in Frankfurt, Germany received the certification document on behalf of ASKI. The ceremony held in Karlsruhe on September 30, 2020 was attended in person, among others, by ambassadors and through video link by ministers, central bank governors, CEOs and senior members of the financial community from around the world.

Arshad Rab, Chairman, International Council of Sustainability Standards for Value-Driven Financial Institutions and CEO, European Organisation for Sustainable Development, delivered a strong message upon granting the certification:

"It is with great pleasure that I congratulate Mr. Rolando Victoria, President and CEO of ASKI on achieving sustainability certification which not only marks a milestone for his organization, but for the microfinance industry in general. He has raised the bar for the microfinance institutions worldwide and is ready to become an ambassador of holistic sustainability in the microfinance sector, first at home in the Philippines and then globally. Let me also congratulate the board, management and all the staff members of ASKI on this occasion."

The Sustainability Certification was granted to ASKI after it adopted the world's first holistic, robust and locally-sensitive set of standards to make value-driven financial institutions more resilient, profitable and key players in the implementation of national development agenda and protection of natural environment in which they operate.

ASKI had to undergo a rigorous process over the past 18 months for fulfilling the criteria. The Sustainability Certification is valid for three years, during which ASKI has to ensure that it meets the compliance requirements.
