ASKI wins 2017 Paeng Awards
ASKI was recognized in the 2017 Paeng Awards for Financial Education initiatives for overseas Filipino workers in Singapore and Hong Kong and their families back home. The awarding was held on June 21, 2017 at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).

Named after former BSP Governor Rafael B. Buenaventura, Paeng Awards is under the auspices of The Rafael B. Buenaventura Microfinance Resource Center Foundation.

This is now the second time that ASKI was recognized in this award. Below is the full text of the acceptance speech of Mr. Rolando B. Victoria, president and CEO of ASKI Group of Companies.

"Empowering the low income migrant workers through education plays a significant role in changing their mindset. ASKI is committed to help them in making their overseas work experience more meaningful and productive as we continue to teach them in creating wealth; generating jobs within their communities and eventually going back home for good and be reunited with their loved ones.

Since the inception of ASKI Global Limited in 2010, one of the strategic business units of ASKI Philippines, we have trained more than 7,000 overseas foreign workers in Singapore including locals, Sri Lankans, Indonesians and Malaysians and around 800 overseas Filipino workers in Hong Kong since we opened in 2015.

From 2014 to 2016, there are a total of 280 businesses established generating jobs to over 400 people in their communities.

Similarly, we also conducted the back-to-back training for OFW families to shape a common dream and set of goals between the OFWs and their families. ASKI Global partners with the ASKI Skills and Knowledge Institute, Inc. to provide back-to-back financial and values education to OFWs families. This is designed for families to appreciate the hard work of the OFWs and to value every cent of the remittance sent home.

As a first step, a dream is turned into a business plan by the OFW in close consultation with the family. The OFW avails of a business loan from ASKI Microfinance and the family operates the business in the Philippines. In areas where ASKI has no operations, the loan is provided by an ASKI microfinance institution-partner. The OFW pays for the loan in the first three months through his or her monthly remittances. This model is ASKI's response to the call for financial inclusion of OFWs and their families.
We share this recognition to our more than 7,000 alumni who believe in us.

We cannot do the program alone. Our partnership with different banks and institutions helped us in realizing our mission. We thanked our partners who supported us in this initiative including the Philippine Embassy in Singapore, Economic Development Board of Singapore, Metrobank Foundation, Citi Foundation, BPI Foundation, MasterCard Foundation, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas for the conduct of the Financial Inclusion Forum in 2016, and the Commission on Filipinos Overseas as member of the Remittance for Development Council or ReDC chaired by CFO.

We are delighted to accept this award. This award will continue to remind us to create significant impacts in the lives of our overseas Filipino workers and their families. Thank you very much."

Other winners include the Taytay Sa Kauswagan, Inc. (TSKI) and Simbag sa Pag-Asenso, Inc. for their Disaster Risk Reduction Management initiatives.
